Grief Support Therapy
Grief is not something you get over — support can help you carry it.
Grief is not something you get over — support can help you carry it.
Losing someone significant changes everything. The world keeps moving, but you are standing still — carrying something that most people around you cannot fully see or understand.
Grief is not linear. It does not follow a timeline or a checklist. It arrives in waves, resurfaces unexpectedly, and looks different for every person — even two people who lost the same someone.
Research tells us to not push through alone
Finding a space where your grief is not rushed, your timeline is not questioned, and you do not have to hold yourself together for someone who cannot hold space for you. That is what Discover Your Path Psychotherapy groups are for.
Groups are formed around specific types of loss.
Most grief groups bring together anyone navigating loss — regardless of what kind of loss they have experienced. We take a different approach.
At Discover Your Path Psychotherapy, groups are formed around specific types of loss. You will not be sitting beside someone grieving their grandparent when you are grieving your child. You will not be expected to find common ground across experiences that feel worlds apart. A partner is not a parent. A sudden death is not a long goodbye. We say we shouldn't compare losses — and that's true. But being in a room with people who lost the same kind of person you did changes something. The isolation lifts a little. You stop editing yourself. You start to feel less alone.
Couples Grief & Bereavement Groups
Losing a child — or any profound shared loss — tests a relationship in ways that are unlike anything else. Partners often grieve differently, on different timelines, with different needs. That distance is not a sign that something is wrong. It is a sign that grief is deeply personal, even when it is shared.
These groups bring couples together with other couples who understand that specific weight — creating a space to grieve alongside each other, in community, without the pressure of holding one another up alone.
Available in-person in Barrie, Ontario and virtually across Canada.

You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone
Grief groups are one way to find support — but they are not the only way. Some people come to a group first. Others start with individual or couples therapy and find their way to a group later. There is no wrong order.
If you are unsure where to begin, we can help you figure that out together.
